The Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases has just successfully treated Mr. T.V.N (54 years old, Da Nang) - a person who has been suffering from fever of 3940 degrees Celsius for more than a year without a clear cause. The results of the examination show that the prone is not just one, but a combination of three dangerous agents: Epstein-Barr virus, green pus strain and Aspergillus fungus.
The patient with a history of lymphoma was treated stably. For about a year now, especially in the past six months, he has had a continuous high fever, headaches, chills, and loss of appetite, and his weight has decreased from 67 kg to 49 kg. Although he has been examined in many hospitals, the cause is still unknown. When he was almost desperate, his family took him to Hanoi to find treatment opportunities.
At the General Infection Department, the patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of exhaustion, fever of 39 degrees Celsius, and sepsis of unknown cause. Tests detected Epstein-Barr virus in blood and lung disease; bronchial flu with resistant green pus strain and Aspergillus fungus. Computer-based cut-off images show an extension of the phalanx and the large mediastinal duodenum. Doctors combined antibiotics and antifungals with antibiotics, covering the entire cause.
After only three days, the patient's condition improved significantly; the fever died a week later; and the weight increased to 54 kg after two weeks.
According to Dr. Le Van Thieu, each pathogen is life-threatening, but when combined, they form a dangerous " triangle" that causes the disease to persist. The green pus bacteria are difficult to kill due to their resistance to many antibiotics; Aspergillus fungus causes necrotizing pneumonia in people with weakened immunity; Epstein-Barr virus is associated with many chronic diseases and cancer.
This is a reminder that with prolonged fever cases, the cause can come from many different causes. Only when the cause is fully identified and correctly identified will treatment be effective.
