On February 14, the People's Committee of Da Nang City announced that it had issued a document on strengthening the implementation of activities to control and prevent measles and flu.
According to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the Department of Health of Da Nang City has just published a worrying report on the measles situation in the area. From January 1 to February 9, Da Nang recorded 599 cases of suspected measles rash fever, of which 245 cases were confirmed positive for measles virus and 1 death.
Meanwhile, the flu situation is assessed to be stable compared to the same period in previous years. In November and December 2024, the city recorded 185 cases of inpatient flu (accounting for 18.7% of the total 989 flu cases in 2024). In January, this number was 122 cases, down 7.5% over the same period in 2024.
Faced with the complicated developments of measles, the leaders of Da Nang City have directed departments, branches, sectors and localities to closely coordinate with the health sector to implement disease prevention measures. People are advised to get vaccinated against the flu and when they have symptoms such as cough, fever, runny nose, headache, fatigue, they need to go to a medical facility immediately for timely examination and treatment, avoid self-treatment at home.
The Department of Health is assigned to closely monitor the measles and flu epidemic situation in the city as well as the whole country. At the same time, support and supervise the implementation of epidemic prevention measures. The Department of Education and Training is also required to strengthen inspection and supervision of epidemic prevention work in schools, ensuring environmental hygiene. And monitor students' health, promptly detect and isolate suspected infections.
