On May 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival in Ho Chi Minh City will take place from May 2-10, attracting about 3,000 domestic and international delegates along with hundreds of thousands of people and Buddhists from all over to worship, attend the ceremony and participate in community activities.
This is a big challenge for the health sector to ensure the safety of people's health, contributing to the success of the event.
Regarding ensuring medical work for the Vesak 2025 General Festival, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has coordinated with Thong Nhat Hospital and the Military Department of Medicine of the Ministry of National Defense, directed the 115 Emergency Center and on-site Permanent Professional Departments to proactively coordinate with hospitals in the area to increase personnel and ensure force.
Within the framework of the event, at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy and Thanh Tam Pagoda, there were 505 cases requiring medical support, including 475 on-site treatment cases and 30 hospital transfers. In Quoc Tu Vietnam, there are 67 cases of medical support, including 64 on-site cases and 3 cases transferred to the hospital.
In particular, emergency care cases are mainly caused by heat, fever or fainting due to hypoglycemia due to large crowds, having to wait in long lines and waiting for a long time. In addition, medical staff on duty at hotels where international delegates are staying have also handled 21 cases, most of which were due to digestive disorders.
Thanks to good preparation and smooth coordination between units, after 8 days of activities, although many people had to receive medical care (mainly sunburned and hot), the Ho Chi Minh City medical force has made efforts to carry out their tasks, not allowing serious medical incidents to occur.
