Currently, Vietnam is the country with the highest number of organ transplants in Southeast Asia, with more than 1,000 transplants per year.

On December 23, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Association for Organ and Tissue Donation in collaboration with the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City organized a seminar to promote organ and tissue donation - giving is forever.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien - President of the Vietnam Association for Organ and Tissue Donation, Vietnam is currently the country with the highest number of organ transplants in Southeast Asia, with more than 1,000 transplants per year.

Organ transplant techniques in Vietnam have reached a high level, but organ sources are limited, mainly coming from living donors. Meanwhile, developed countries often rely on organ sources from brain-dead people.

Also at the event, the Southern Region Inter-Hospital Organ and Tissue Donation Association was launched. At the same time, the registration for organ and tissue donation - giving is forever - was launched at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.

The President of the Vietnam Organ and Tissue Donation Association assessed that the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City - the focal point of the Southern region - has established an organ transplant association including hospitals in the region. The association's goal is to increase the source of organs from brain-dead donors, saving more patients.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac - Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital said that at the hospital, the establishment of the association is an important step to promote organ transplant activities, in the context of very limited organ donation sources.

In addition, the Association will focus on building a communication network, training counselors, and implementing specific action plans. This is to change the community's perception, encouraging people to see organ donation as a noble act, with the meaning of continuing life.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien - President of the Vietnam Organ and Tissue Donation Association encourages everyone to register to donate organs and donate after death. This action not only brings a chance to live for others but also leaves a good impression that will last forever.
