Since the beginning of the year, Gia Lai has recorded more than 1,900 cases of suspected measles rash fever, of which 173 cases tested positive. The epidemic has spread to 17 districts, towns and cities, concentrated in Chu Se, Krong Pa and Dak Doa.
CDC Gia Lai warns that children under 5 years old are at high risk of disease, especially those who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses. Notably, some measles cases have appeared in children under 9 months old who are not vaccinated.
In this situation, the health sector has stepped up propaganda, mobilized adequate vaccination and recommended that people take epidemic prevention measures.
In addition to measles, the province is also recording many cases of dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease and whooping cough, increasing the risk of widespread outbreaks.
The measles epidemic in Kon Tum is complicated and spreading in many districts and cities. Since the beginning of the year, the province has recorded 665 cases of suspected measles rash fever, of which 61 cases tested positive.
Worryingly, 599 cases have had to be hospitalized for treatment, most of whom are children aged 0-10 years. In this situation, the health sector recommends that people proactively prevent epidemics, especially fully vaccinating children.
