On July 8, Hue Central Hospital informed that from the beginning of the year to July 7, 2025, the hospital has received and treated 32 cases of streptococcus purple, all of whom are people living in Hue City. In the past month alone (from June 3 to July 7), the number of cases has increased rapidly with 24 hospitalizations.
Of the total 32 patients, 18 have been discharged from the hospital, 14 cases are continuing to be treated. Notably, in the discharge group, there were 4 cases of serious illness that their families asked to take home, including:
Ms. N.T.T.T (61 years old, Vy Da ward) - asked to leave on the day of hospitalization.
Mr. N.M.T (51 years old, An Cuu ward) - asked to leave after a day of treatment.
Ms. D.T.N.H (51 years old, Phu Xuan ward) - asked to go home after nearly a month of treatment.
Mr. B.V.C (50 years old, Thuan Hoa ward) - asked to go home the day of hospitalization.
According to the health sector, the development of streptococcal diseases in pigs tends to be complicated, the number of cases increased dramatically in a short time, many cases were hospitalized in serious condition, seriously affecting the health and even the lives of patients.
The Hue City Department of Health has issued recommendations for disease prevention, requiring organizations, unions and people to proactively take preventive measures, especially for high-risk groups such as: people raising, slaughtering, transporting, trading fresh pork and domestic workers directly processing food from pigs.
People are advised not to eat pork soup or undercooked pork, and to keep their hands and tools clean when preparing and processing meat. When there are symptoms of high fever, headache, nausea, people need to go to medical facilities for timely examination and treatment.
