On August 25, while fishing in the waters of Truong Sa, fisherman Nguyen Van Lai (born in 1969, from Binh Son, Quang Ngai, crew member of fishing boat QNg 90640 TS) suddenly showed symptoms of fatigue, numbness, weakness in the right side of his body, difficulty speaking and headache.
At around 11am the same day, the patient was admitted to Truong Sa island infirmary in a state of alertness, contact but paralyzed on the right side, slurred speech, mouth damage, blood pressure 161/90 mmHg.
After examination, the doctor determined that Mr. Lai had a stroke at the 11th hour due to a cerebral infarction, which needed to be closely monitored to distinguish it from cerebral hemorrhage.
Doctors on the island quickly fluctuated, protecting brain cells, preventing cerebral edema, controlling blood pressure; at the same time, performing paraclinical tests, electrocardiograms, X-rays and online consultations with Military Hospital 175 to provide appropriate treatment regimens.
Initial assessment showed that the patient's condition was severe, with the risk of advanced stroke and cerebral edema.
Currently, the military medical force of Truong Sa island continues to closely monitor signs of survival and promptly report to the upper level for handling.
