Silent medical conditions
Dr. Sudeep Khanna is a gastroenterologist, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital (Delhi, India), saying the disease is often not detected until serious complications.
Fatty liver can be caused by many causes, common is an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, or excessive drinking.
The two main reasons include: non -alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), related to poor diet, obesity, and lack of exercise; Alcoholic fatty liver (AKLD), due to drinking too much alcohol.
If not controlled, fatty liver can progress to non-alcoholic fatty hepatitis (NASH), cirrhosis, and even liver cancer. In addition, the disease also increases the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders.
"Because this condition has no obvious symptoms in the early stages, the only way to detect fatty liver is through tests such as ultrasound, MRI scan, or blood tests," said Dr. Sudeep Khanna.
Treatment of fatty liver
Change of diet: To support liver recovery, you should focus on fiber -rich foods such as whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Lean protein such as lentils, chicken beans, fish, cheese, tofu and eggs are also very good.
In addition, adding healthy fats from nuts and olive oils can help reduce inflammation. Foods rich in antioxidants such as green leafy vegetables, berries and turmeric help protect liver cells.
On the contrary, you need to limit eating foods containing refined carbohydrates and sugar such as white eyelashes, soft drinks, processed foods, because they increase blood sugar and worsen fatty liver. Alcohol and too much salt also have bad effects on liver health.
Change lifestyle: Overweight, especially belly fat, is the main cause of fatty liver. Reducing 5-10% of the body weight can significantly reduce liver fat.
Effective weight loss needs to combine balanced and exercise diet, at least 150-300 minutes of exercise every week.
Controlling blood sugar and cholesterol, as fatty liver can lead to insulin resistance, increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Prioritize adequate sleep (7-9 hours each night) and manage stress to improve overall health.
If you have been diagnosed with fatty liver, do not wait until the new symptom changes the lifestyle. Changing right now will help protect the liver and prevent serious consequences in the future.
