Blackstrap molasses is a byproduct of sugar production from sugarcane. The molasses is boiled twice more until it turns black, which is called blackstrap molasses.
Anemia is a blood-related disease caused by a deficiency of hemoglobin and red blood cells in the blood. It occurs due to low iron levels in the body, which can cause fatigue, weakness, and lethargy.
Nutritionist Avni Kaul says that blackstrap molasses contains essential nutrients like vitamin B12, B6, manganese, iron, carbohydrates, selenium, potassium, calcium and copper, which are beneficial in treating anemia and several other diseases.
Blackstrap molasses is rich in iron and “absorption enhancers” like sulfur, copper and fructose, which help treat anemia. So eating a spoonful of blackstrap molasses can provide 20% of the daily iron requirement, adds Avni Kaul.
Additionally, blackstrap molasses has many other benefits, such as improving skin health and strengthening hair.
