In the context of stress, environmental pollution and hormonal changes that make hair thinner, scalp massage has become a "savior" for many people who want to get back thick, healthy hair. Dr. Elizabeth Hale - a dermatologist at Harvard Medical School - shared with Harvard Health Publishing that this simple technique not only relaxes but also helps increase the amount of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles.
Scalp massage with natural oils helps dilate blood vessels under the skin, increase circulation and nourish hair roots. Just 5 minutes a day can give you a clear look after a few weeks, says Dr. Hale.
How to do it in detail
1. Prepare massage oil
Whole coconut oil: contains lauric acid and vitamin E, which have antibacterial and deep moisturizing properties.
Jojoba oil: a natural sebum-like structure, permeable without sticking.
Peppermint or rosemary essential oil (23 dipped drops): stimulates the feeling of coolness and increases the effect of stimulating circulation.
2. Time and frequency
The best time is about 5 minutes before shampooing or in the evening before bed.
Do it daily or at least 3 times a week for optimal results.
3. Standard massage techniques
Take about 23ml of oil, between your palms.
Use your fingertips (not your nails) to gently pat the scalp in a small circle, starting from the forehead to gradually go back to the neck.
Gradually increase the pressure of massage in the thinning hair area, spreading oil evenly throughout the scalp.
Finish with a gentle stroll along the hair roots from the base to the tip to let the oil penetrate deeply.
Note
Persistently do it: massage regularly for at least 58 weeks to see the difference.
Balanced diet: prioritize eggs, salmon, soy and green vegetables.
Avoid high temperatures: limit hair drying and straightening, applying too much heat.
