This impairs metabolism and reduces overall energy levels, leading to difficulty in performing daily activities.

According to nutritionists, insulin levels and hormones like cortisol can be affected by metabolism. If insulin levels are high or cortisol is increased, this can cause difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.

An unhealthy diet, especially one high in sugar or fat, can also reduce sleep quality. These foods can cause blood sugar imbalances, which increase insulin and cortisol levels, affecting your ability to relax and fall into deep sleep.

Sleep, especially during REM sleep, is when your body restores and regenerates energy. While you sleep, your body digests and processes nutrients from food, which helps your body metabolize energy more efficiently. Not getting enough sleep can disrupt this process, leading to energy deficits and a decrease in metabolism.

Therefore, good sleep can help maintain an efficient metabolism, while a healthy metabolism supports good sleep. Improving sleep quality, maintaining a healthy diet, and exercising regularly can help balance and optimize both of these factors.
