On July 9, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health said that it had just recorded 1 death due to dengue fever in Tien Son 2 village, Bien Ho commune.
The death case is Mr. L.V. P (born in 1999) who had dengue fever and a history of type 2 diabetes. This is the first death from dengue fever in 2026.
The patient started the disease on June 26 with symptoms such as: fever, fatigue, headache.
Mr. P. bought medicine at home and took it for 3 days without improvement. On June 30, the patient went for examination and was admitted to Military Hospital 15 and transferred to the Emergency Department of Gia Lai General Hospital for treatment.
The patient was then transferred to the Intensive Care and Anti-poison Department, Gia Lai General Hospital. Dengue virus NS1Ag rapid test results: Positive.
After treatment, the disease progressed severely, the family requested transfer to a higher level for treatment and the patient died on the way.
Gia Lai Provincial Center for Disease Control directed Bien Ho Commune Health Station to deploy 2 environmental sanitation campaigns to kill larvae/tadpoles to prevent dengue fever.
According to statistics, from the beginning of the year to now, Bien Ho commune has recorded 36 cases of dengue fever. Currently, the Station is continuing to advise Bien Ho Commune People's Committee to deploy environmental sanitation campaigns to destroy larvae/tadpoles regularly in villages and hamlets with outbreaks.
