From the beginning of 2026 to now, 2 dengue fever outbreaks have appeared in Vung Ang and Hoanh Son wards throughout Ha Tinh province.
In which, the dengue fever outbreak in Vung Ang ward is the first outbreak in 2026, detected on April 6; the second dengue fever outbreak was detected in Hoanh Son ward on May 3.
The last case (total of 22 cases) of the dengue fever outbreak in Hoanh Son ward was recorded on June 14.
By June 30, after fully meeting the conditions according to regulations on epidemiological surveillance, this outbreak was confirmed to cease operations.
However, the dengue fever outbreak in Vung Ang ward is still operating to this day. Most recently, on July 5, this locality recorded 2 more cases, raising the total cumulative number of cases to 105.
Out of a total of 105 cases, 99 have recovered, and 6 are still being treated at medical facilities.
On July 6, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Ha Tinh Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that after 2 dengue fever outbreaks appeared, the Ha Tinh CDC provided insecticide and medical supplies, supporting the Vung Ang and Hoanh Son ward health stations to promptly handle the environment.
Health stations of the above 2 wards have implemented epidemic prevention measures to zone and handle the epidemic, preventing the epidemic from spreading.
Organize environmental sanitation campaigns, kill larvae and pupae; spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes for patients' homes and households around patients' homes; strengthen communication on dengue fever prevention and control on loudspeakers of wards and residential groups.
The cause of the outbreak in Vung Ang ward has not been controlled to date, Mr. Thanh said that it is because the environmental treatment here has not been thorough, and there are still leftover vectors that transmit the disease, which are tick mosquitoes.
Mr. Thanh explained that the weather is unfavorable for epidemic prevention, because after each sunny spell there is rain, so some waste items have stagnant water for larvae to breed and develop.
Director of Ha Tinh CDC affirmed that in the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with the local authorities and people in Vung Ang ward to concentrate at the highest level to soon successfully control the outbreak here.
To fight dengue fever effectively, in addition to the efforts of the health sector and local authorities, the active participation of the residential community is very necessary. Each family needs to proactively and self-clean the environment around their house, cover waste items containing water, and strengthen the control of mosquitoes and larvae," Mr. Thanh shared.
