From the beginning of 2026 to now, the dengue fever situation in Can Tho City continues to record complicated developments. According to statistics, Can Tho City has recorded more than 3,000 cases of dengue fever, 4 times higher than the same period in 2025. More worryingly, there are over 250 cases with severe progression.
Faced with the risk of epidemics, recorded at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of Can Tho City, the number of people actively coming for consultation and vaccination against dengue fever has increased significantly.
Just finished the 2nd dose of vaccine, Ms. Nguyen Kim Duyen (Can Tho City) shared that initially she was advised by her child to get vaccinated and was a little hesitant because this is a new vaccine, but after careful research, she found the process very simple and easy.
Currently, dengue fever not only appears in children but also in adults, especially people with underlying diseases like me, if I get it, it is very dangerous. After getting 2 doses, knowing that the protection effect is very high, I feel reassured" - Ms. Duyen said.

Although the demand for disease prevention is high, cost barriers are still the main reason why most Can Tho people are hesitant. Currently, the complete protocol including 2 doses of dengue fever vaccine has a price ranging from over 2 million VND, this number makes many working families have to consider.
However, according to the doctor's analysis, this cost is still much lower than the cost of treatment, medicine, hospital fees and labor losses, especially long-term health consequences if you unfortunately get sick and become seriously ill.
Specialist Doctor II Huynh Thanh Trieu, Head of Can Tho CDC General Clinic, said that dengue fever vaccine has been implemented in the locality for about 2 years. At the beginning, the number of people coming for vaccination was very sparse.
In the past 3 months, when the number of cases has increased sharply, people have started to proactively go for disease prevention. We recommend that people carefully learn about vaccines and consider early vaccination. Investing in vaccination is much more effective than facing risks when the disease becomes severe or dangerous complications appear" - Dr. Trieu added.

In addition, Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces are also entering the rainy season. Therefore, to effectively control and push back the dengue fever epidemic, the health sector recommends that people continue to maintain and drastically implement traditional solutions. Accordingly, actively kill mosquitoes, kill larvae, turn over water containers and maintain the habit of cleaning up airy living spaces.
