On December 3, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Thanh Hoa General Hospital's leadership said that a patient with globular meningitis had just died.

The patient is a female, born in 1992, a prisoner serving a sentence at Sub-caster No. 3, Thanh Phong Prison, in Nong Cong commune.
According to Thanh Hoa General Hospital, the patient started the disease on November 23 with symptoms of fever, headache, dizziness, and nausea. The patient was treated at the infirmary until November 29, then transferred to Thanh Hoa General Hospital and was diagnosed with meningitis caused by brain tissue.
The patient was quarantined and actively treated at the Department of Tropical Diseases. However, due to the seriousness of the disease, deep coma, having to use a ventilator, septic shock, multiple organ failure, not responding to treatment and dying on December 2.
After the incident, Thanh Hoa General Hospital reported to the Department of Health and the Provincial Center for Disease Control. The health sector has organized an investigation, collected samples and provided instructions on how to handle the outbreak at Farm No. 3, Thanh Phong Prison.
Through screening, 21 F1s were recorded (including 9 prisoners and 12 officers). These cases were sampled and tested negative for scoliosis bacteria.
Thanh Hoa health sector also coordinated with the prison unit to disinfect the patient's living area, monitor F1 health and prevent with Ciprofloxacin 500mg for all 21 risk cases.
The health sector recommends that this is a particularly dangerous acute infectious disease, which can cause death within a few hours of occurrence and easily spread in crowded environments. People need to proactively get vaccinated to prevent the disease.
