Phu Tho Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has just welcomed a healthy born twin "female cat" who officially became the 1,000th and 1,001st babies thanks to IVF techniques.

Having become parents for the first time at the age of 46, both Ms. Do Thi Thuy Hang and Mr. Pham Duc Toan, residing in Ba Be commune, Thai Nguyen province, could not hide their happiness.

Married since 2005, many years later they still do not have the sacred happiness of other couples, the desire to have children is always present in a small family.

For nearly 2 decades, they have " numbered the doors" of many assisted reproductive centers across the country, trying every method from modern to folk, but all efforts have not brought results, and the children are still "less confident".

In 2022, through the introduction of friends and research on the media, knowing that the success rate of IVF techniques at the Center for Reproductive Support and Andrology, Phu Tho Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was quite high, Ms. Hang and her husband decided to choose this as their "stop point".

Since the first examination, my husband and I have been really impressed and convinced by the enthusiasm, dedication and professional attitude of the medical team at the Center, so we have decided to once again put our trust in modern medicine, put our trust in the doctors here Ms. Hang shared.

Due to old age, ovarian reserve and reduced egg quality, Ms. Hang's first embryo transfer did not achieve the desired results. This failure easily discouraged many couples, but they still persevered and maintained an optimistic spirit.

Under the guidance of a doctor, Ms. Hang spent more than a year resting, taking care of her body, and taking care of her health. In 2024, the couple continued to return to the IVF journey. The embryo transfer results in December 2024 were successful, she received the results of a double pregnancy in the overwhelming joy of the whole family and doctors.

During her pregnancy, Ms. Hang was closely monitored and closely managed by doctors at Phu Tho Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. And on August 13, 2025, at the 37th week of pregnancy, the welcoming surgery was performed directly by Dr. Pham Thai Ha - Director of the Hospital, taking place safely and smoothly, welcoming a 2.4kg baby girl and a 2.2kg baby boy to a healthy birth.

After 20 years of waiting, going through many failures, hopes and disappointments, Mr. Toan - Ms. Hang finally had the two little Angels in her arms. That happiness is not only for the family, but also a great source of encouragement for couples who are tirelessly on the journey to find children, to find the piece of family happiness.

Dr.BS. Doan Xuan Kien - Director of the Center for assisted reproduction and Andrology said: Endocrinological insemination (IVF) technology has been deployed at the Center for assisted reproduction and Andrology, Phu Tho Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital since August 2020. On average, the Center conducts examinations for more than 14,000 patients each year, performing more than 700 embryo transfers.

To date, after 5 years of official implementation, more than 1,000 babies have been born healthy thanks to IVF techniques at the Center with a success rate of 55%, equivalent to the success rate at large assisted reproductive health centers in the country and the world.

In addition, the technique of pumping sperm into the IUI uterine cavity has also helped more than 1,000 infertile couples have the happiness of parents. In particular, about 10% of elderly couples (aged 45 and over) and long-term infertile couples have successfully given birth to healthy children thanks to assisted reproductive techniques at the Center.

Each successful song is a story, an emotional journey. Welcoming the 1000th and 1001st twin births is not only the happiness of the patient's family but also a motivation for us to continue to strive, try hard every day with the desire to bring happiness to more families" - Dr.BS. Doan Xuan Kien shared.
