After more than 11 years together, Mr. N and Ms. H have overcome countless difficulties in their journey to find children. After many failures, hopes and disappointments, they finally received a miracle at the age of over 40. However, that happiness was not yet complete, but the storm hit when Ms. H suffered from meningitis, a dangerous disease that threatened the lives of both mother and child.
Holding hands to step through the storm
After more than 10 years of living together, Mr. N and Ms. H are still hungry to have children. Two failed in vitro fertilizations (IVF) and countless times Ms. H's heart was in pain, but they still did not give up hope. Despite their difficult life, the couple always packed each penny together to continue the long journey to find a child.
The third IVF, the miracle came when Ms. H became pregnant at the age of 41. However, their happiness was quickly threatened. In the first three months of pregnancy, Ms. H had to be hospitalized continuously due to the risk of miscarriage due to low vegetable stores. At the 26th week of pregnancy, she began to have symptoms of high fever and prolonged headaches, which seemed like just a common flu, but it signals an approaching storm of diseases.
Fighting serious illnesses during pregnancy
After five days of treatment but her condition did not improve, Ms. H was urgently transferred to Bach Mai Hospital with an initial diagnosis of unknown cause and a 26-week pregnancy.
Dr.BS. Doan Thu Tra, Deputy Director of the Institute of Tropical Medicine (Bach Mai Hospital) said that after the examination, he found that the patient had signs of meningitis, an extremely dangerous disease. The patient had to secrete cerebral urine for testing, the results determined that she had meningitis. Both mother and child are in danger because the fetus is too small to live outside the mother's womb.
On July 10, the patient fell into a coma and was transferred to the intensive care unit. Both the family and the doctors were worried and waiting for the situation.
The husband, with his endless love, always stood quietly outside the ICU room, waiting for every opportunity to visit his wife and children. He kept praying for the mother and child.
Despite difficult circumstances, the husband never gave up. Every word he says is an earnest cry filled with love and hope, making those who witness it unable to hold back their tears.
Dr. Doan Thu Tra shared: "We clearly understand the family's wishes, and do not allow ourselves to give up. Specializers from Neurology, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Resuscitation, Viology to Respiration are determined not to give up, making every effort to save the lives of both mother and child."
Every day, doctors and nurses at Bach Mai Hospital have devoted themselves to taking care of the mother, from ultrasound, X-ray to ensuring nutrition for both mother and baby. They constantly encouraged her and helped Ms. H's family overcome the darkest moments.
The moment of burst into tears at 31 weeks of pregnancy
After nearly a month of fighting the disease, Ms. H's pregnancy finally reached the 31. week mark. However, the health of Ms. H and the fetus continued to become stressful. The hospital's medical council was urgently summoned to make a decision to give birth. At the end of July, the surgery was successful, the baby was born prematurely but safely. Ms. H also passed the door of life and death, even though she still had to continue treatment.
The story of Mr. N and Ms. H's family is not only an 11-year journey waiting for a miracle, but also a testament to the dedication and love of the doctors at Bach Mai Hospital. It is not only a medical miracle but also a lesson in resilience, love and hope.
