In the early morning of February 27, on Vietnamese Doctors' Day, when many medical facilities were focusing on gratitude activities, at Huu Lung Regional Medical Center (Lang Son province), a "race" with death took place urgently and fiercely after a serious traffic accident on National Highway 1.
Distinguished Doctor, Specialist Doctor II Nguyen The Do - Director of Huu Lung Regional Medical Center - said that at about 5 am on the same day, the unit received an emergency call requesting emergency support for the victims of a traffic accident at Km76, National Highway 1.

Immediately, the Center activated a state of emergency, dispatching ambulances with 1 doctor and 2 nurses to the scene. At the same time, mobilizing maximum manpower, equipment, arranging 30 officials, doctors, nurses to positions ready to receive and handle severe cases.
At about 6 am, 5 victims were transferred to the Surgery Department in a state of multiple trauma shock. Among them, 4 people suffered a broken femur with many other complex injuries.
Faced with the severe developments of the cases, the Center's leaders directly participated in consultations, assessing the condition of each patient to come up with optimal treatment plans.

Doctors, nurses and technicians urgently provided emergency care, pain relief, and fixed the broken bone; and at the same time deployed paraclinical indications such as X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests... to comprehensively assess the extent of damage.
The patient's life is paramount. The Center's leaders requested that emergency care be provided in the fastest time, helping patients avoid the risk of adverse developments related to health and life.
The coordination between departments and rooms is carried out closely and rhythmically. Thanks to that, in just about 90 minutes, patients have all been treated for injuries, resuscitated, and transfused blood," Dr. Nguyen The Do informed.
To deeply assess the extent of the injury and according to the family's wishes, the Center sent 10 medical staff (2 people per patient) to accompany the ambulance, closely monitoring the health status throughout the transfer process to higher-level hospitals.

According to previous information, at about 5 am on February 27, a 44-seater sleeper passenger car with license plate 37G-001.41 driven by Mr. Ngo Manh T (born 1976, residing in Nghia Dan, Nghe An) was traveling in the direction of Hanoi - Lang Son, carrying 12 passengers.
When arriving at Km76, National Highway 1 (Lang Son province), this vehicle collided with a 16-seater passenger car with license plate 29B-113. 77 driven by Mr. Nguyen Trung D (born 1984, residing in Pac Cu village, Thuy Hung commune, Lang Son province), traveling in the opposite direction, with 12 passengers on board.
According to preliminary assessments from functional agencies, the initial cause was determined to be that driver Nguyen Trung D drove the car in the wrong lane, leading to the accident.
The strong collision caused Ms. Nguyen Thi P (born 1987, residing in Pac Cu village, Thuy Hung commune, Lang Son province) - sitting in the passenger seat in front of the 16-seater car - to die on the spot. It is known that the victim is the wife of driver Nguyen Trung D.
5 people on the 16-seater car were injured and taken to the Huu Lung Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment, including: Mr. Nguyen Dinh Q (born 1968, residing in Luong Van Tri ward, Lang Son city); Ms. Hoang Thi T (born 1989, residing in Tan Thanh commune); Mr. Lang Viet L (born 1981, residing in Ky Lua ward); Ms. Vy Thi H (born 1983, residing in Dong Dang commune); Mr. Nguyen Duy C (born 1955, residing in Dong Dang commune).
Two vehicles were heavily damaged after the collision.
The accident is being further investigated and handled by functional agencies according to regulations.
