During the National Day holiday, many people in Ho Chi Minh City take advantage of going to health stations for free health check-ups, proactively detecting and preventing diseases.

From early morning, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Diem, Xuan Thoi Son commune, Ho Chi Minh City, was present at Xuan Thoi Son Commune Health Station for a health check-up. According to her, the advantage this year is that the program is organized right in the locality, helping people shorten travel time and easily arrange work.

In particular, organizing check-ups right during holidays creates more conditions for freelance workers to participate. This is a group that is often busy with work and has little time for periodic health check-ups. Not only appreciating the thoughtfulness and enthusiasm of the medical team, Ms. Diem also hopes that the program will be maintained regularly. Because according to her, periodic health check-ups will help people proactively take care of themselves, and at the same time detect early abnormal signs for timely treatment.

At the age of 73, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, Xuan Thoi Son commune, Ho Chi Minh City, still happily comes to the Health Station for health check-ups. She said that before, going for examination was not always convenient. This time, thanks to local officials coming to her house to mobilize, she arranged time to come for examination. For the elderly, periodic health check-ups bring peace of mind and are also a proactive way to maintain health.

Ms. Lien said that even on holidays, doctors and medical staff still wholeheartedly examine and guide people, making her very happy and feeling that the program is really practical.

Just this morning, at Xuan Thoi Son Commune Health Station, hundreds of people came for health check-ups. To let people know and actively participate, right before the check-up day, hamlet officials went to each house to mobilize and announce the check-up schedule, even on holidays.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thuy Ngan - Head of the Department of Disease Prevention and Food Safety, Xuan Thoi Son Commune Health Station, Xuan Thoi Son commune has coordinated with Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital to organize health check-ups for people. Recorded on September 2nd, the number of people coming for examination was higher than on normal days, partly due to the characteristic that people here are mainly freelancers.

On weekdays, they are busy with work, making it difficult to arrange time to go for health check-ups. Therefore, holidays become a favorable time to take advantage of medical examinations. Not only initial examination and screening, the program also integrates data on the city's Digital Citizen software. People are checked for many specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, ears, nose, throat, dentistry...

In case of detecting abnormalities, they will be consulted and guided to continue specialized examinations, thereby helping to monitor and take care of health more proactively and continuously.

Doctor Vu Hoang Quan - Department of Internal Laboratory Medicine, Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital said that previously the hospital had proactively prepared personnel from the departments of internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, dermatology, testing and reception departments, ensuring to meet the examination needs of the people.

According to the plan, the hospital is expected to serve about 500 people a day. However, because it is a holiday, the number of people coming for examination may increase. Therefore, the hospital has proactively arranged sufficient personnel, ready to meet when the number of people coming for examination exceeds expectations.

Ho Chi Minh City has provided free health check-ups for more than 3.7 million people, reaching 29.1% of the population, of which 22 wards, communes, and special zones have a rate of people being examined exceeding 50%. According to Mr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the progress between localities has improved, with 74 out of 168 wards, communes, and special zones reaching 30% of the population being examined or more. 22 localities exceeding 50% and 9 places exceeding 60%. However, the rate between localities is still different, some places only reaching about 13-17%.
