On June 10, Dien Bien General Hospital said that a phone explosion right in the hand while charging, led to serious damage to the left hand and risked leaving serious permanent sequelae.
At around 2:00 a.m. on June 9, Mr. Vu A.D (42 years old, Muong Cha district, Dien Bien province) while using his phone while charging, the device suddenly exploded right in his hand.
After the explosion, the victim was bleeding profusely, the left hand was crushed; the chest and abdomen had close marks. The family immediately took the blood banter to Muong Cha District Medical Center and then transferred it to Dien Bien General Hospital.
Doctor CKII Nguyen Duc The - Deputy Head of the Department of Trauma - Arthritis - burns ( Provincial General Hospital) said: "The patient's left hand was severely crushed, the hand was split in half between the II-III thumb, the surgical team proceeded to remove the crushed and necrosed parts, fix the wrist joint, combine bones and shape the thumbs of the fingers, preserve maximum function of the hand".
After about 90 minutes, the surgery was completed, the patient was resuscitated and given post-operative care.
Dien Bien General Hospital recommends that the habit of using the phone while charging, especially playing games while playing with electricity; charging the phone overnight, leaving it under the pillow or in a burnable place... all have a potential risk of fire and explosion.
