Village health workers and midwives will be supported with 50% of the health insurance premium. This is to encourage, motivate and ensure fair policies for people working in health care in remote areas, similar to other subjects in residential groups.
This support is stipulated in Decree 188/2025/ND-CP, adding village health workers and midwives to the list of beneficiaries of this support level. The goal is to recognize and have appropriate policies for those who play an important role in public health care in disadvantaged areas, while ensuring fairness to other subjects.
The Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance No. 51/2024/QH15 ( Law on Health Insurance 2024) and most recently Decree No. 188/2025/ND-CP of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance has clearly stipulated the contribution rate, support level and responsibility for paying health insurance.
The minimum support of 50% of the contribution level is applied to many other groups, including:
Victims of human trafficking crimes ( supported for 1 year);
Students - the future force of the country;
Participants in the security and order protection force at the grassroots level;
Village health workers, village midwives...
The policy of supporting health insurance contributions not only contributes to reducing the financial burden on people but is also an important step in promoting fairness in health care. When everyone has a health insurance card, not only the poor are taken care of, but the whole society benefits from a more inclusive and humane healthcare system.
