On December 3, Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital announced that the unit had just successfully performed emergency surgery on a patient who had suffered a serious traffic accident.
Previously, on the afternoon of November 26, Tran Hung Phuc (12 years old), residing in Kong Chro district, went out to eat with his father. At that time, he wrapped his shirt around his arm while sitting on the back of a motorbike. When the motorbike was running at high speed, unfortunately, the shirt got caught in the chain, dragging Phuc's arm along, causing the forearm (from the elbow to the wrist) to be severed. Phuc was then taken to Kong Chro District Medical Center. Here, medical staff performed an inter-hospital red alert, provided effective first aid, and urgently took the patient to Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Pleiku city.
At the hospital, doctors from the Neurosurgery - Orthopedic Trauma Department cleaned the forearm, removed the crushed parts and began emergency surgery.
After 5 hours, the surgery to reattach Phuc's arm was successful. Phuc's arm is now warm again and is gradually recovering well.
