The initiative " application and development of the breast milk banking model" (2020 - 2021) by Ms. Thuy Trang and her colleagues is probably not only known in Quang Ninh province for its practicality and effectiveness.
After more than 4 years of operation, the Breast milk Bank has mobilized nearly 6,400 liters of raw milk donated by more than 200 mothers, providing more than 6,000 liters of probiotic-standard pasteurized milk to more than 22,000 newborns.
Thousands of premature, low birth weight babies have been nourished with valuable milk, contributing to improving the physical strength of the future generation of Quang Ninh. This topic has brought her the First Prize of the 8th Quang Ninh Provincial Technical Innovation Competition (2020 - 2021) and the honor of being listed in the "Golden Book of Vietnamese Innovation" in 2023.
This is just one of the research topics and initiatives that nurse Le Thi Thuy Trang has chaired and participated in for more than 22 years of work up to this point.
In the period of 2020 - 2025, she has chaired and participated in many research topics and initiatives with high practical value, such as: Appraising knowledge of diabetes practice of pregnant women to see a doctor at the hospital in 2020; Assessing the implementation of the blood collection process of medical staff at the Clinical Department in 2021; Descripting the current situation of knowledge of maternal and newborn care for mothers and newborns of mothers who have had one-time surgery in 2023; Applying a digital transformation model to improve the encryption of health education and communication documents for patients in 2024...
Ms. Trang said that the nursing sector at the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has the characteristics of caring for mothers and young children with weak physical conditions and sensitive psychology, so patients, meticulousness and close monitoring are needed.
Therefore, in addition to professional skills, nurses must also know how to communicate, reassure the patient's family, and coordinate with doctors and other specialties. The biggest difficulty is the large workload and high pressure, while always maintaining a gentle and precise attitude to ensure the safety of mother and baby.
The work always faces such difficulties and challenges, but no matter the role or position, she always believes that in the environment of the medical profession, she is always deeply aware that scientific research and innovation are the way to improve the quality of patient care.
Ms. Trang shared: The emulation movement of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Federation of Labor, and the health sector is the fire that lights up the desire to contribute, helping me and my colleagues in the sector dare to think, dare to do, dare to innovate. Each study must be linked to the actual needs of patients; each successful topic comes from the desire to reduce pain, reduce costs, and improve the quality of care. Only then will creative ideas and innovative initiatives in professional work truly bring practical benefits, existing and growing stronger over time".
The research and innovation efforts of Master, Deputy Head of Nursing Department Le Thi Thuy Trang have been recognized and commended by all levels and sectors. In particular, she has won the title of "Grassroots Emulation Fighter" (term 2020 - 2024) for many consecutive years; "Provincial Emulation Fighter" (term 2020 - 2022); Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Nursing Association for outstanding achievements in developing the Association in 2020; Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province "Winning the First Prize of the Quang Ninh Provincial Technical Innovation Contest" in 2022; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Nursing Association to honor outstanding nurses; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for achievements in the program "1 million initiatives" in 2023; Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, honoring outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals, Creative Labor Federation, and Young Talents of Science and Technology in 2025.
And most recently, at the 7th Patriotic Emulation Congress for Workers, Civil Servants, and Laborers for the period 2020 - 2025 organized by the Quang Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor, she was honored to be awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - a noble award for her tireless efforts and creativity in medical research and health care for the people.
Those awards are a valuable recognition, and at the same time a responsibility for me to continue to strive harder - Ms. Thuy Trang confided.
