Notably, in just the past 24 hours, the number of cases of examination and emergency care for accidents suspected of being caused by firecrackers and fireworks was 66 cases; a total of 4 days was 267 cases. The number of hospitalizations suspected of being caused by firecrackers and fireworks in the past 24 hours was 34 cases; a total of 4 days of Tet holiday was 141 cases.
According to a quick report from the Ministry of Health sent to the Government Office on February 18 (ie, the 2nd day of the Binh Ngo Tet), summarized from units directly under the Ministry, 34 Departments of Health of provinces and cities and sectoral health, by noon on the same day, there were 89,006 patients being treated at medical facilities.
Within 24 hours, hospitals received more than 39,200 patient visits for examination and emergency treatment. The medical team performed over 2,200 surgeries, including 407 emergency cases, showing that treatment pressure is still high during the holidays.
In particular, in the past 24 hours, medical facilities nationwide recorded 2,011 newborns born. In total, in 4 Tet days (from the morning of February 14 to the morning of February 18, i.e. December 28 to the 2nd day of Tet), there were 8,358 children born by both natural birth and cesarean section.
In parallel with treatment, blood reserves continue to be ensured. By noon on the 2nd day of Tet, the total amount of blood reserves for emergency and treatment was 19,857 units. In the first two days of the new year, many young people and families came to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to donate blood and platelets, contributing to supporting patients.
Regarding traffic accidents, in the past 24 hours, 2,876 examination and emergency visits suspected of being related were recorded. Among them, 1,889 cases had to be hospitalized for inpatient treatment or monitoring; 262 cases were transferred to other hospitals. The number of deaths suspected of being caused by traffic accidents is 21 people, including deaths before the hospital, at the hospital and severe cases requesting to be discharged.

The Ministry of Health said that the health sector has proactively prepared enough medicines, supplies, and chemicals to serve medical examination and treatment and epidemic prevention and control. From February 14 to 12:00 on February 18, there were no reports of drug shortages at medical facilities nationwide.
