During the Lunar New Year, the need for travel, visits, and Tet greetings increases. Along with that are meetings, parties, and raising glasses to celebrate the New Year. However, the psychology of being considerate, subjective, or thinking "just drinking a little is okay" makes some people still drive after using alcohol and beer.
In Ho Chi Minh City, traffic police strengthened alcohol concentration checks on many roads. Many violators said that because they went to wish Tet to relatives and friends, thinking the distance was close or had rested for a while, they still drove. Some people expressed surprise when they learned about the high penalty level accompanied by a driver's license deduction.

For example, on February 17 (the 1st day of Tet), Mr. N.T. T (born in 1976, residing in Gia Dinh ward) was driving a motorbike on Le Quang Dinh street (Binh Loi Trung ward) showing signs of lack of composure, so he was asked by the Hang Xanh Traffic Police Team (PC08 Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police) to stop the vehicle for inspection.
The measurement results showed that Mr. T violated the alcohol concentration at 0.363 milligrams/1 liter of breath. Mr. T said that in the morning of the same day, he went to wish colleagues a Happy New Year and drank about 4 cans of beer before driving home.
Similarly, the Northwest Traffic Police Station (PC08 Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police) discovered a case of driving a motorbike on Provincial Road 15 violating alcohol concentration at 0.261 milligrams/1 liter of breath. This man said he had used beer at a relative's house on the first morning of the year.

According to the An Suong Traffic Police Team (PC08 Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police), in reality, in the early days of Tet 2026, the majority of traffic participants complied with regulations. However, there are still some cases of driving vehicles after using alcohol or taking advantage of deserted roads to speed. These are acts that pose a high risk of serious traffic accidents.
Specifically, on New Year's Eve and the 1st day of Tet, the unit recorded and handled 61 cases of alcohol concentration violations. According to functional forces, the situation of using alcohol and then driving can occur at any time during Tet if people are still subjective.

According to the Traffic Police Department (Ho Chi Minh City Police), implementing the plan of the Traffic Police Department (C08, Ministry of Public Security), from 10 am on the 1st day of Tet, the entire city's traffic police force simultaneously deployed a thematic alcohol concentration test.
In addition to this topic, the working groups also strengthen the handling of other violations such as speeding, going in the wrong lane, carrying more people than prescribed... in order to proactively prevent and reduce traffic accidents during Tet.
