At the launching ceremony of the "National Press Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control 2025" held on September 8 by Health and Life Newspaper in coordination with the Department of Disease Prevention (Ministry of Health), journalist Tran Tuan Linh - Editor-in-Chief of Health and Life Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said that over the past 10 years, Vietnam has continuously reduced all 3 indicators: Number of new HIV infections, number of cases transferred to AIDS and number of deaths related to HIV/AIDS; at the same time, controlling the HIV infection rate in the community below 0.3%.
In addition, Vietnam has achieved very impressive results: 95% of people infected with HIV/AIDS are covered by health insurance, nearly 90% of people receiving ARV treatment are covered by the health insurance fund, and more than 95% of people receiving ARV treatment have a viral load below the suppression threshold.
"To aim for an end to the AIDS epidemic by 2030, we need to continue to make further efforts. The epidemic is still tiem nang, especially in high-risk groups. New challenges require us to have new approaches, more creative and stronger communication solutions" - Mr. Tran Tuan Linh said.
The 2025 National Press Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control aims to vividly reflect the fight against HIV/AIDS in many fields, from propaganda, prevention to care, treatment and support for people infected with HIV/AIDS.
At the same time, it is to honor collectives and individuals with many contributions, as well as creative and effective models and methods.
Through journalism works, the Organizing Committee hopes to contribute to raising social awareness, eliminating discrimination and discrimination related to HIV/AIDS, while encouraging the spirit of humanity and community responsibility.
