Putting electronic medical records into operation has many benefits such as reducing waiting time and cumbersome procedures for patients and their families...

Electronic medical records have become a mandatory trend in the journey of digital transformation of healthcare in our country. Gradually eliminating paper medical records and connecting data between hospitals and clinics will contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment at all levels.

To promote digital transformation and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, increase patient and public satisfaction, implement paperless hospitals, transparent public management, and move towards a model smart hospital, from November 1, 2024, Bach Mai Hospital officially deployed the electronic medical record system.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital said that this is a breakthrough in modernizing the health care process, managing medical records, improving the quality of medical services and improving the patient experience. The transition to electronic medical records helps all information about the patient's health status, medical history and treatment process to be stored and managed online. This not only improves management efficiency but also facilitates doctors and medical staff to access information quickly, minimizing errors in the diagnosis and treatment process.

Successful implementation of electronic medical records helps patients avoid having to store and carry all kinds of documents when going to the doctor. Electronic medical records help manage health information continuously, throughout people's lives, helping people be more proactive in disease prevention and treatment.

Putting electronic medical records into operation reduces waiting time and cumbersome procedures for patients and their families. Patients do not have to worry about losing test results, do not have to panic when reading the doctor's handwriting. Provide information and clinical data quickly and promptly between medical examination and treatment facilities.

Digital transformation is an inevitable trend, an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority for rapid and sustainable development. Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW of the Politburo has emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the digital transformation process. The Government's national digital transformation program to 2025, with a vision to 2030, is implemented in the direction of comprehensive digital transformation with the participation of people, the business community and state administrative agencies.

Bach Mai Hospital currently has 57 units with a scale of 3,600 beds and more than 4,000 medical staff and employees serving the work. Every day, the Hospital receives 7,000 - 10,000 outpatients and about 4,000 inpatients.

Starting in mid-July 2024, the hospital has piloted electronic medical records at 6 units. From November 1, electronic medical records will be deployed across all units.
