On August 9, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that from August 4, a dengue fever outbreak was detected in Tan Duc village, Ky Hoa commune. To date, the outbreak has recorded 5 cases.
Immediately after detecting the outbreak, Ha Tinh CDC coordinated with Ky Hoa Commune People's Committee and the Commune Health Station to implement epidemic prevention and control measures; organize environmental sanitation, kill larvae and pupae in Tan Duc village area; cordon off and spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes for households around patients' homes.
In the coming days, Ha Tinh CDC will coordinate with Ky Hoa Commune People's Committee to mobilize people, departments, branches, and commune-level organizations to deploy environmental sanitation campaigns and kill larvae in villages to limit the risk of epidemic spread and outbreaks on a large scale.
Meanwhile, the dengue fever outbreak in Ky Long residential group, Vung Ang ward was detected from April 6, and has not ended yet.
According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, this outbreak has recorded a total of 114 cases. In the past 8 days, the locality has not recorded any new cases.
However, the Director of Ha Tinh CDC assessed that the outbreak in Vung Ang ward is still complicated, prolonged and has a large number of cases.
The reason why the outbreak has not been completely controlled is due to unfavorable weather for epidemic prevention and control. After sunny spells, rain often appears, making some waste items with stagnant water become places for larvae to breed and develop. Meanwhile, environmental treatment is not thorough, and there are still tick mosquitoes - vectors that transmit diseases.
Over the past time, Ha Tinh CDC has coordinated with Vung Ang Ward Health Station, Vung Ang Ward People's Committee to implement epidemic prevention and control measures; organize environmental sanitation, kill larvae and pupae and spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes at patients' homes and surrounding households.
In the coming time, the Ha Tinh health sector will continue to coordinate with local authorities to promote environmental sanitation, kill larvae and pupae, thereby limiting the risk of dengue fever spreading and breaking out on a large scale.
