According to the British Heart Foundation, beetroot contains high levels of natural nitrate. When entering the body, nitrate is converted into nitric oxide, a compound that helps dilate blood vessels, improve blood circulation and support lower blood pressure. Drinking it in the morning can help the body start a new day with better circulation.
Beetroot juice is also rich in antioxidants such as betalain, vitamin C and polyphenols, which help reduce oxidative stress, a factor related to many chronic diseases. These nutrients also support liver function and strengthen resistance.
Dr. Emma Derbyshire, a nutritionist at the British Nutrition Association, said: "Beetroot juice can improve exercise performance and endurance thanks to its ability to increase the efficiency of oxygen use in the body.
Another benefit is digestive support. Drinking juice in the morning when the stomach is still relatively empty helps the body absorb nutrients better, while stimulating the digestive system's activity.
However, experts advise against abuse. Drinking about 150–250 ml per day is appropriate. People with a history of kidney stones or low blood pressure should consult a doctor before regular use.
Maintaining the habit of drinking beetroot juice properly, combining a healthy diet and reasonable exercise, can bring many long-term health benefits.
