Recently, social networks have spread the method of alkalimizing blood into the body to treat cancer. This method is described as painless, not even needing treatment, only correcting daily mistakes such as actions, thoughts, eating according to the laws of the universe, the disease will gradually decrease and disappear.
Information is shared that: "Everyone should eat 100% alkaline foods so that the blood and water in the body reach pH = 7.4. All diseases using antibiotics will no longer exist. pH = 8.5, cancer dies".
Regarding this topic, at the exchange "Living together, living well with cancer" held at Hanoi Medical University, Dr. Vu Huu Khiem - Center for Atomic and Oncology Medicine, Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi - said that blood alkalination is not only widespread in Vietnam, but also in some countries around the world. However, this is not an official treatment method.
There is no scientific research to confirm that cancer treatment by blood alkalination is an effective method. A treatment method will have to go through many stages to check and determine its effectiveness, toxicity and safety. Up to now, it can be confirmed that blood alkalination has not been recognized as a cancer treatment method, said Dr. Khiem.
According to Dr. Khiem, cancer cells often develop in acidic environments, so some authors believe that they can be alkallized to kill cancer cells. However, our body only has a pH of 7.4; when it reaches 8.5, it will cause a series of dangerous metabolic disorders in the body.
Recently, the author of the book 'The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health' was sued, because a breast cancer patient gave up traditional treatment to use blood alkalination, causing the disease to get worse and the patient to fall into a state of exhaustion, added Dr. Khiem.
According to the latest announcement of the Global Cancer Organization (GLOBOCAN), in 2018, Vietnam had 164,671 cancer cases, 114,871 deaths and currently over 300,000 cases.
At the exchange, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hong Thang - Deputy Head of the Department of Cancer, Hanoi Medical University, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Medicine - K Central Hospital - also said that the number of new cancer cases has increased in Vietnam, as well as in the world. The incidence of cancer worldwide has increased gradually since 1975 in all epidemiological reports.
The cancer rate has increased over time. In 2018, 18 million people newly suffered from cancer in the world. This figure is expected to double by 2040. This is a great burden of disease for patients, said Associate Professor Thang.
The reason for this increase comes from the increase in population and the increase in people's life expectancy, especially in developed countries. In addition, the impact of environmental factors, industrialization, lifestyle, food, stimulants also affects the disease.
Thanks to early detection screening measures, the number of people detected for cancer has also increased. Early detection makes treatment easier, meaning the number of people with successful treatment increases.
In addition, socio-economic development, communication, propaganda, and patient access are more recent to scientific and technological advances for disease treatment.
According to Associate Professor Thang, this is a disease of society, related to the economic development of many countries. Therefore, early detection and treatment of cancer is a positive thing in current medicine.
