Thanh Hoa evacuated nearly 3,000 households from dangerous areas

Due to the impact of floods, Thanh Hoa province has evacuated nearly 3,000 households to safety.

On September 24, information from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thanh Hoa province said that to proactively respond to rain, floods, landslides and flooding risks, on September 23, the People's Committees of districts and cities in the area proactively evacuated 2,873 households, with 11,759 people.

According to initial statistics, the flood damaged 169 houses. Of which, 11 were in Muong Lat district, 92 in Quan Son, 49 in Quan Hoa, and 17 in Thuong Xuan. Thousands of hectares of rice, crops, perennial crops, aquaculture, etc. were flooded and damaged.

10 schools were affected by landslides, including 3 in Quan Son district; 2 in Muong Lat; 2 in Quan Hoa; 2 in Lang Chanh; and 1 in Ba Thuoc.

There were 2 landslides and dike breaches at No Thon drainage culvert (location K26+711 on the left dike of Ma River, Vinh An Commune, Vinh Loc District) and 3-door drainage culvert (location K37+840 on the left dike of Hoang River, Quang Phuc Commune, Quang Xuong District), which have been handled.

Landslides on positive and negative slopes occurred at 183 locations, with a volume of 60,000m3 on national highways such as: QL15, 15C, 16, 217, 217B, 47. In addition, many other landslides occurred on provincial roads, causing traffic congestion.

Currently, Thanh Hoa province's functional agencies are coordinating with localities to continue to deploy response and recovery work after floods.
