At the signing ceremony and launching of the 115 satellite emergency station at District 8 Medical Center on April 22, Dr. Le Nguyen Hoang - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center said that previously, the southern area of District 8 did not have a regular out-of-hospital emergency facility, affecting access time and the quality of emergency treatment.
Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center in collaboration with District 8 Medical Center has begun implementing the satellite emergency station model, placing ambulances to operate 24/7 from February 24. The model of a type 3 satellite emergency station is a suitable form to be deployed in District 8.
In which, District 8 Medical Center is responsible for arranging the site and logistics (scalp rooms, tables and chairs, electricity and water...). The 115 Emergency Center will be in charge of the station's expertise, human resources, vehicles and medicines.
After 2 months of operation, the number of emergency care cases handled by this satellite station accounts for 52% of the total number of emergency care cases in the area, helping to reduce the load on other satellite stations. In addition, the average time to approach patients was previously 15-18 minutes, now shortened to less than 15 minutes.

According to Dr. Nguyen Duy Long - Director of Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center, District 8 is considered one of the densely populated areas with high demand for emergency care but limited response capacity.
Previously, the satellite emergency station model was mainly established by large hospitals, with full conditions for personnel, equipment and means of transportation. The opening of additional emergency stations in localities is facing difficulties due to lack of land and hospitals in charge.
Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that developing grassroots health care is one of the important strategies and a solid foundation in the cause of caring for and protecting people's health. The launch of a satellite emergency station at District 8 Medical Center is an important step forward, helping to promptly meet the emergency needs of the people.
This is the city's first 115 satellite emergency station located at a medical center. This opens the door for the replication of the satellite emergency station model at other district and county health centers in the coming time.
