Continuing the screening activities in response to National Health Day 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector entered the second phase of deployment with a larger scale, simultaneously at 168 ward, commune, and special zone health stations. The launch is expected to take place on April 17, 2026, with the participation of a team of doctors and physicians from 101 public and non-public hospitals, including 6 ministerial and sectoral hospitals; 69 general and specialized hospitals of the city; and 26 private hospitals.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, this is the first time the city has synchronously mobilized more than 100 hospitals and the entire grassroots health system to deploy health check-ups, screening and disease screening activities at the same time. The activity is organized in the direction of clear professional assignment, promoting the strengths of each tuyến, each group of medical facilities to improve the effectiveness of examination and early detection of diseases.
Accordingly, central and ministerial and sectoral hospitals undertake screening for key diseases such as cardiovascular, endocrine, tumor, musculoskeletal, maxillofacial and occupational diseases. Meanwhile, specialized hospitals of the city deploy screening in each field such as obstetrics and gynecology, eyes, inflammation of the ears, nose and throat, cancer, mental illness... The city's general hospital system and regional general hospitals focus on examination, detection and management of chronic non-communicable diseases and common internal medicine diseases in the community.
Notably, private hospitals and regional health centers also actively participated in this phase, contributing to expanding coverage and increasing access to health services for people. The synchronous participation between the public and private systems is considered an important step in mobilizing social resources into community health care.
A notable highlight in this campaign is that the cervical cancer screening program will be prioritized for implementation in 16 wards and communes for self-employed women and female workers at some factories. The implementing force is obstetricians and oncologists from specialized hospitals. This activity is expected to help detect cervical cancer early, one of the dangerous diseases but can be prevented and treated effectively if detected early.
Not only creating conditions for people to access multi-specialized services right at their place of residence, this examination also focuses on groups that need more attention such as the elderly, people with chronic diseases, freelancers, vulnerable people and high-risk groups. This is also an opportunity to raise community awareness about the role of periodic health check-ups, early detection of diseases and continuous health management.
In parallel with examination activities, the city's health sector pays special attention to digital transformation. All examination and screening results will be updated and linked to electronic health records, ensuring "correct - sufficient - clean - living" data, serving long-term health management for people. After examination, health stations will receive results, classify and create management lists by risk group; at the same time, organize monitoring, invite re-examination or transfer when necessary, ensuring the principle of early detection - early intervention - continuous management.
The event on April 17, 2026 is not only a simultaneous launch but is also considered a starting point for the program of health check-ups, screening and periodic disease screening for all city residents in 2026 and the following years. With a scale of more than 15 million people in a megacity, the goal of the program is to build a proactive, continuous and comprehensive health management model.
