Doctor Bach Thi Chinh, Medical Director, VNVC Vaccination System, said that the new vaccine applies advanced collagen technology to help prevent 4 diseases of measles, olds, rubella and chickenpox in just one injection. The vaccine is produced by the world's leading pharmaceutical and biological company MSD (USA).
Compared to previous 3-in-1 vaccines that only prevent measles, chia and rubella, MMRV vaccine is supplemented with a vaccine for chickenpox prevention. Clinical trials show that MMRV has a disease prevention effect of up to 99% after 2 doses, equivalent to individual vaccination for each type of measles, chiave, rubella and chickenpox vaccine, but reduces the number of injections and saves time, increases the chance of preventing many diseases for children early and protects adults better.

To date, MMRV vaccine has been widely deployed in nearly 60 countries with more than 66 million safe and effective doses. Research since its introduction into the US expanded immunization program shows that the MMRV vaccine has helped reduce more than 91 million chickenpox cases, 238,000 hospitalizations, prevented nearly 2,000 deaths and 1.1 million hospitalizations.
Every year, infectious diseases such as measles, leprosy, rubella and chickenpox cause tens of thousands of cases and deaths in Vietnam, raising the need to seek high-quality, safe vaccine sources for children and adults. VNVC's official use of the US-made MMRV vaccine marks an important step forward, bringing broader protection solutions to children and adults.
The vaccine is prescribed for children from 12 months old (can be vaccinated 9 months earlier as in case of an epidemic) and adults. In pregnant women, antibodies created from previous vaccination are transmitted through the fetus, protecting the baby from birth. Women need to complete their vaccination schedule at least one month before pregnancy.

Measles, olds, rubella and chickenpox are infectious diseases that spread rapidly through the respiratory tract, can cause epidemics and can leave many serious sequelae.
One measles case can spread to 18 others. At least one in three measles cases experienced complications such as acute diarrhea, middle ear inflammation, pneumonia, and corneal ulcers. Pregnant mothers with measles increase the risk of miscarriage, premature birth and low birth weight. Measles often causes a large outbreak every 4-5 years, in the 2024-2025 period alone, hundreds of thousands of cases have been recorded with dozens of deaths, including in pregnant women and adults.
About 15% of men with per turn have meningitis complications, 13% of men have testicular inflammation or testicular congestion, 5% of postmenopausal women have ovarian inflammation, directly affecting fertility. Bursitis also causes more rare complications such as encephalitis, acute pancreatitis, thyroid inflammation, myocarditis or rentitis.
Bean sprouts spread all year round, can cause pneumonia, encephalitis, hepatitis, kidney inflammation or sepsis. Pregnant women infected with chickpeas increase the risk of fetal abnormalities, placental or newborn chickpeas. A mother getting sick near giving birth can cause a child to get chickenpox with a mortality rate of up to 30%. Chickenpox virus lasts throughout life in the body and can be reactivated when the immune system is weakened, causing shingles with prolonged pain and seriousness such as eye and cornea damage, loss of vision, hearing, and even increasing the risk of stroke and heart attack.

rubella infection during pregnancy, especially in the first 3 months, can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth or childbirth with congenital rubella syndrome with many sequelae such as low birth weight, cataracts, deafness, mental Development, congenital heart failure, small head problems... About 20-50% of infections have no symptoms, making it difficult to control the spread.
The implementation of MMRV vaccine at the VNVC Vaccination System continues to affirm VNVC's pioneering role in approaching and bringing modern and advanced health solutions to the Vietnamese people in the world, demonstrating VNVC's close cooperation with the health sector and the Government in its strategy of disease prevention over treatment, protection, care and improving people's health.
VNVC is the leading vaccination system in Vietnam with nearly 240 modern and safe vaccination centers nationwide, providing millions of doses of high-quality vaccines each year, contributing to improving vaccine coverage for children and adults. Since its establishment, VNVC has brought to Vietnam 20 new and new generation vaccines, gradually filling the gaps in the ward for both children and adults.
In 2024 and the first 9 months of 2025 alone, along with the MMRV vaccine, VNVC has continuously introduced nearly 10 vaccines to prevent dangerous diseases such as dengue fever vaccine, shingles vaccine, platelets to prevent pneumonia, meningitis, and three vaccines to prevent meningitis and hemorrhagic susceptibilities.
