According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. BS Bui Thi Nhung (Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Nutrition Association, Head of the Nutrition Department of Sun Hospital), in addition to using medication as prescribed, patients need to build a reasonable diet and maintain regular physical activity to protect their long-term health.
1. Prioritize a healthy diet
People with high blood pressure should increase green vegetables, fruits and fiber-rich foods, while limiting saturated fat and foods high in cholesterol.
A balanced diet will contribute to controlling blood pressure and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
2. Limit salt and alcohol
Eating salty food is one of the factors that increases blood pressure. Therefore, patients need to reduce salt intake in meals and limit alcohol and beer consumption.
These are important measures to help control blood pressure and prevent complications.
3. Control weight and increase exercise
Maintaining a reasonable weight combined with regular physical exercise will effectively support blood pressure control.
Physical activity not only helps stabilize blood pressure but also improves cardiovascular and metabolic health.
4. Control dyslipidemia
People with high blood pressure also need to monitor and control blood lipid disorders through appropriate diet and lifestyle.
Limiting foods high in saturated fat, cholesterol and maintaining balanced nutrition will contribute to reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications.
