On the morning of December 17, Hospital 199 - Ministry of Public Security organized a workshop on "Improving the quality of stroke treatment" in Da Nang.
The workshop aims to provide doctors, medical professionals and staff in the medical field with the latest information on diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation methods after stroke. Building links between hospitals, medical centers and experts to improve the effectiveness of stroke treatment through sharing experiences and implementing advanced treatment models.
Contribute to raising awareness of the importance of early detection and timely treatment of stroke, and improving the quality of medical services at treatment facilities through the application of advanced technology and techniques.
At the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Toan - Stroke Department, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital said that cerebral infarction is a condition of sudden loss of blood flow to a region of the brain, leading to damage to brain parenchyma and loss of corresponding neurological function. Timely and effective treatment is the key factor to reduce mortality and disability.
“The common onset of cerebral infarction is often sudden with the appearance alone or in combination of common signs and symptoms such as hemiplegia, unilateral or quadriplegia (rare), loss or reduction of sensation on one side of the body, loss of vision in one or both eyes, visual field defects, double vision, speech disorders, facial paralysis, dizziness (rarely occurring alone), loss of language, sudden perceptual disturbances,” informed Dr. Toan.
Dr. Toan added that the risk factors leading to this disease are high blood pressure, diabetes, lipid disorders (hypercholesterolemia), smoking, postpartum pregnancy, etc. To prevent it, people need to control blood pressure and cholesterol well, treat heart rhythm disorders and practice a healthy lifestyle.
