Previously, on June 27, Lao Dong Electronic published an article "Mother with cancer worries about 2 young children who are unable to attend school", reflecting the difficult circumstances of Ms. Bui Thi Le (born in 1994), residing in Thinh Minh village, Bao Hieu commune, Yen Thuy district, Hoa Binh (now Thinh Minh village, Lac Luong commune, Phu Tho province).
Ms. Le was diagnosed with colon cancer at the end of 2022, and has undergone 2 surgeries and many radiotherapy sessions. Despite having health insurance, she still has to spend about 8 million VND per treatment.
For more than two years, her family, who were already poor, has been exhausted and had to borrow hundreds of millions of VND to maintain treatment.
After the article was published in Lao Dong Newspaper, readers across the country and philanthropists donated more than 65 million VND to her family, of which the BONOBOS volunteer group donated 44 million VND and readers donated more than 21 million VND.
Receiving the money sent by readers, Ms. Le emotionally shared: I am very grateful to Lao Dong Newspaper, readers and philanthropists for sharing and helping my family during this difficult time. That concern gives me more strength to continue fighting the disease, so that my children do not have to drop out of school halfway.
