Dien Bien - On the morning of August 2, a helicopter of the Ministry of National Defense carrying 2 tons of goods to support people affected by flash floods.

After providing relief to people in flooded areas in Son La, on the morning of August 2, the Ministry of National Defense mobilized aircraft to transport relief goods to Dien Bien province. The plane took off at 7:15 a.m. at Gia Lam airport carrying 2 tons of essential goods.

Relief goods including: Drinking water, instant noodles, dry food, milk... have been delivered to people affected by flash floods in Dien Bien province.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and officers, soldiers and people of Dien Bien province participated in transporting cargo boxes from the plane to the gathering point.

Directly participating in the transportation of goods, Mr. Nguyen Hao Nam (Na Son commune) said: I am proud to contribute a small part. I just hope the relief goods will arrive quickly so that people will have less difficulties".

At the Na Son commune stadium, many local people volunteered to participate in supporting the transportation of relief goods, to contribute to helping people in flooded areas.

On the same day, the plane arrived at the disaster area, dropping even 1 ton of relief goods in Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune.

Present at Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune to inspect and direct rescue work and overcoming the consequences of flash floods, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected the scene, visited and encouraged people of Hang Pu Xi to overcome immediate difficulties, and join forces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also directed local authorities to urgently access all villages and residential areas; connect communication to grasp the situation of the entire area, promptly grasp the needs of people for healthcare, food, necessities, etc.

According to the latest report from the Dien Bien Department of Health, as of 8:00 a.m. on August 2, the prolonged heavy rain causing landslides and flash floods has killed 7 people, 3 people are missing and 7 people are injured. In which: Tia Dinh Commune has 3 deaths and 5 injuries; Xa Dung Commune has 4 deaths, 2 injuries and 3 missing people.

The flood also caused a lot of damage to property, crops, traffic works, and infrastructure. The initial estimated damage is about 100 billion VND.

In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.
