Ms. Bui Thi Le was born in 1994, currently residing in Thinh Minh village, Bao Hieu commune (Yen Thuy district, Hoa Binh).
At the end of 2022, Ms. Le was diagnosed with colon cancer. The life of a small family has been completely disrupted...
Ms. Le said that before she discovered her illness, her husband went to Hanoi to work as a leather shoe sewing worker, she stayed home to take care of her two children, and worked in the fields to earn more income. Since Ms. Le was seriously ill, her husband returned to his hometown to take care of his wife, and the family's limited income has now become even more difficult.

I have had 2 surgeries (artificial anorectal surgery, artificial anorectal closed surgery); 12 rounds of chemotherapy at Ninh Binh General Hospital. From April 2025, I transferred to the Department of Internal Medicine 4, Institute of K of the newborn radiotherapy facility, and received 3 rounds of chemotherapy. Although they have health insurance, each treatment period requires an additional 8 million VND. This is a huge amount of money for my family at the moment...", Ms. Le said choking up.
Sharing with reporters, Ms. Le could not hide her choked tears when mentioning her two young children (Ms. Le's eldest son born in 2014, youngest daughter born in 2016).
"Mom and I will send our children to my grandparents for treatment during the school year, if it is summer, they will definitely come to stay and let them take care of us," said Ms. Le.
According to Ms. Le, when she first discovered the disease, she thought a lot, because she was young, her children were still young, her father-in-law had passed away a long time ago, her mother-in-law was old and weak; her biological parents were not left behind...
I kept thinking that I was young, still of working age to earn money to raise my children to study... Now that I have this disease, what should I do? Then there are times of severe liver pain when the child complains about his mother every time she goes for long-term treatment... - Ms. Le said tearfully.
Since the discovery and treatment of the disease, Ms. Le has spent about 300 million VND on expenses. In addition to the money the family supported and lent, Ms. Le and her husband are borrowing 70 million VND from the bank.
On July 1, Ms. Le went to Hanoi for treatment as scheduled. Her disease has spread to the lungs and bones. Every time she talks, she gets tired and coughs a lot... The woman is healthy, does not know how to work in the fields and gardens, now she only has 47kg, her hair is gone...
Talking to reporters, Ms. Bui Thi Em - head of Thinh Minh village said that Ms. Le's family was very poor, belonging to a poor household, and her mother suffered from illness when her children were young. Ms. Le and her husband are currently unemployed and have no income. The locality also supported the family in applying for a loan, but the treatment was still long and the cost was still expensive. "We really hope that benefactors will support Ms. Le so that she can have more money for treatment and the children can go to school," said Ms. Em.
