As Lao Dong reported, on the afternoon of October 14, at the gate of Lang Mon Primary School (Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province), an accident occurred, causing the death of Luong Bao T (born October 14, 2015).
"Student T ran across the street quite fast and was not paying attention, so he collided with a moving motorbike. After the accident, the teachers took him to the provincial general hospital for emergency treatment, but due to multiple injuries, he did not survive," said the principal of Lang Mon Primary School.
One day after the incident, following the instructions of local people, the reporter went to Na Bao hamlet, Minh Tam commune (where T and her family usually reside).
"Since hearing the news, everyone in the neighborhood has gathered to share and help the family. Poor T. At home, he is very well-behaved and everyone loves him," said a neighbor next door.
In a house built of block bricks, with a corrugated iron roof and unplastered walls, Ms. Luong Thi Lieu (T's biological mother) completely collapsed. At the time the reporter was there, this disabled mother was lying on a mat next to T.
Struggling to sit up to greet the stranger, Ms. Lieu told about her family background. Born in 1980, this woman has physical disabilities due to the effects of Agent Orange from her biological father.
Ms. Lieu is married to Mr. Luc Van Dung and has 2 children, the eldest son born in 2002 and Luong Bao T (born in 2015). The life of the small family is extremely difficult because Mr. Dung does not have a stable job, he does whatever he is hired to do. Ms. Lieu is disabled so she cannot find a long-term job either.
"You are a good child so the whole family has high expectations. Yesterday was your birthday but something happened" - Ms. Lieu's voice faltered.
It is known that the house was built by the family before the walls were plastered, and the money to build the house was also supported because the family's finances were very tight. No one in Ms. Lieu's family had a stable job, and they did not have much land.
T's altar was hastily set up on a piece of wood, next to the incense burner was a birthday cake that her brother bought but she had not yet blown out the candles. Looking at the tragic scene, no one could hold back their emotions.
Teacher Hoang Thi Yen - Luong Bao T's homeroom teacher shared: "T's family situation is very difficult. Since the accident, school staff have come to support the family with funeral arrangements. I also hope that benefactors who know about T's situation can help T's family in some way."
There are no valuable items in the three-room house, the kitchen is just a wooden frame and covered with a tarpaulin. Talking to reporters, Mr. Luc Van Minh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Minh Tam commune, Nguyen Binh district said that Ms. Luong Thi Lieu's family is a poor household in the locality, and her situation is difficult because Ms. Lieu was infected with Agent Orange.
"Local authorities will visit and encourage the family to overcome the pain and soon stabilize their lives," said Mr. Minh.
