Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Van Tu (born in 1986, Hoa Dong B Hamlet, Hoa Hiep Commune, Tan Bien District, Tay Ninh Province) shared that the work accident happened in October 2017, due to slipping while loading goods at a height, causing his head to hit the ground, causing a bruise.
Anh Tu was taken to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (District 5, HCMC).
At that time, doctors cut off a part of Tu’s skull and stored it for several months to replace the skull cap. However, this part of the skull was later damaged, and the patient had to undergo surgery to remove the skull cap and then reattach it.
In 2022, Mr. Tu was diagnosed with a surgical site infection, exposing the titanium skull cap. The treatment at this time was to surgically remove the skull cap.
In July 2024, with a diagnosis of intracranial injury and right hemisphere skull defect, Mr. Tu underwent titanium skull surgery. However, he later suffered from an infection in the skull cap incision.
"Most recently, on October 17, I went to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital for a check-up. The doctor gave me medicine to dry out my wound. In addition, I had itchy skin all over my body. I was diagnosed and given medicine," said Mr. Tu.
Sharing about the treatment process, Mr. Tu said: "Previously, after finishing the surgery and being discharged from the hospital, the doctor gave me medicine to take and waited for the day to remove the stitches. In case of a recurrence of infection, I would come back for a check-up."
Every time he goes for a check-up, Mr. Tu takes a bus from Tay Ninh province to Ho Chi Minh City. He signs the paperwork, then his family comes to take care of him during his long-term treatments.
Despite his poor health, Mr. Tu still tries to help sell household electrical appliances 8 hours a day in Trang Bang district (Tay Ninh province). However, the meager income is only enough for Mr. Tu to manage and take care of his own life, not enough for medical treatment.
The General Planning Department of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) confirmed that patient Le Van Tu visited and received treatment at the hospital from October 27, 2017 to October 17, 2024.
Mr. Tran Van Queo - Head of Hoa Dong B Hamlet said that in the locality, Le Van Tu's family is poor and does not have enough money for medical treatment. The sisters in Tu's family depend on each other, work for hire, and temporarily stay at other people's houses.
"These past few days, Mr. Tu called me and asked if I had any sponsors to support his treatment. However, there are still no sponsors. I hope someone will support Mr. Tu's situation," Mr. Queo told Lao Dong Newspaper.
