At the age of 32, when he was supposed to be building a career and future, Mr. Luong Van Tu (born in 1992, residing in Vinh Tuy ward, Hanoi) had to spend most of his life attached to the hospital and continuous blood filtration. For more than a decade, diseases have continuously hit, causing Mr. Tu to never have a day as healthy as normal people. His life with his elderly mother was also in a state of exhaustion.
Mr. Tu said that in 2014, after graduating from the College of Defense Industry and working for about a year, he noticed a rapid decline in his health. Every day I feel tired quickly, or feel sick, but the cause is unknown. I just thought that because of the pressure of work and the change of weather, people were exhausted, he said.

But one time he went to the doctor and was shocked to hear the doctor diagnosed with kidney failure, forcing him to have dialysis. From that day until now, more than 10 years have passed, his life has been associated with the hospital. Not only did he have kidney failure, he also had heart failure, hypothyroidism and many serious complications. "Now all the organs are broken," he said.
In March 2024, he suffered from severe osteoporosis leading to a broken right thigh neck. He was prescribed bone replacement surgery by the doctor, but difficult circumstances prevented him from paying for the surgery. Therefore, he had to accept wheelchairs to maintain his daily activities.

Currently, he has to go to the Department of Nephrology, Thanh Nhan Hospital for dialysis 3 times a week. His father passed away early, his mother was old and weak and had a serious heart attack, so every time he went to the hospital, he had to ask his neighbors to take him.
The difficult life of the mother and child became even more miserable when the illness lasted for a long time. Anh Tu said that his mother used to have a small house of about 20 square meters. However, since 2020, due to the high cost of medicine for both, they were forced to sell their only house to cover medical expenses. Since then, the mother and child have no stable place to live. Faced with especially difficult circumstances, the People's Committee of Vinh Tuy Ward has created conditions for them to temporarily build a corrugated iron roof on public land to have a place to live.
His illness made him unable to work, his mother was old and weak, so the mother and child could only depend on a small allowance. Although he is covered by a protection insurance, he still has to pay about 700,000 VND per month for treatment costs, not to mention the medicine he has to buy outside. "For the past two years, my economy has been exhausted, so I don't have money to buy medicine to drink anymore," he confided.
Despite his fatigue and pain, he still tries to cling to it every day, hoping to prolong his time with his mother.
