For many years, Mrs. Hoang Thi Ngoan (born in 1965) has lived a quiet life with her daughter Pham Hoang Lien Huong (born in 2007) in a state of hundreds of deprivation.
Without a stable source of income, health is declining day by day, while children are still of school age, the burden of making a living is on the mother's shoulders. Unstable life often causes the mother and daughter to worry about every meal, struggling with daily living expenses.
Previously, Ms. Ngoan's husband worked far away and rarely stayed at home. When his daughter turned 10 years old, he suddenly passed away from a stroke, leaving her in an old house that had been damaged by time, and she alone was to take care of all of her family life. Since then, she has become the only pillar, quietly sticking to the fields and villages, both working and earning a living, while saving every penny to raise her children to study.
Ms. Ngoan's health is now declining, accompanied by many diseases of the stomach, frontal cavity, and bones and joints. The constant pain often made it difficult for her to move, many days with wind and rain, she could hardly sleep.
However, the only job she can do is farming, so even though she is not healthy, she still has to struggle.
"I just work in the fields, I can't do anything else. Apart from the days off, I take advantage of selling vegetables. The income is very unstable, every month with a lot, I get a million VND, at least about a year, seven hundred thousand VND", Ms. Ngoan choked up as he shared.

Mrs. Ngoan's relatives on the outskirts of her house all work far away and have little opportunity to help. When it was too difficult, she often borrowed from brothers and neighborhoods to raise her children to study. Without using a phone, without accessing social networks, her world is wrapped in rice fields, village markets and the gate of the school where her children study.
The female algae raised their children. When their children passed the university entrance exam, Ms. Ngoan was both worried and happy, crying. Worried because she doesn't know where to earn money to send her children to school, happy because she hopes her children's future will be brighter than her life...
Every day, the difficult life of Mrs. Ngoan and her children passed quietly in the countryside. The mother tried to cope with the pain, taking every penny so that her child would not have to stop halfway on the path to study. I dont know what to do now. Because I still have to try...", Ms. Ngoan said enthusiastically.
In the midst of poverty, what Ms. Ngoan maintains most is the belief: studying will open up another path for her children. That was a difficult but steadfast choice for a rural mother - who was used to carrying the fields, carrying diseases and now carries the dream of going to school for her children.
Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Hoang Tien Boi - Head of Giap Ngo residential group, Chuong My ward (Hanoi) - said that the circumstances of Ms. Ngoan and her daughter are very difficult, the villagers are all interested and understanding.
"Ms. Ngoan's husband passed away early, she raised her children alone. She herself is often sick, her income mainly depends on farming and gardening, so her life is very difficult. We always try to care for and support within our capacity. But honestly, that support only partly helps Ms. Ngoan overcome the immediate situation, and to help her and her daughter reduce difficulties in the long journey ahead, and the community needs to join hands..., Mr. Boi said.
