Previously, Mrs. Tho lived with her sister - Mrs. Duong Thi Thom (born in 1975). Ms. Thom has suffered from mental illness for many years and has been treated at specialized facilities. 3 years ago, Mrs. Thom suddenly passed away from a stroke. At that time, Duong Minh Quang - Mrs. Thom's son was only nearly 4 years old, and did not fully understand the pain of losing his mother...
When Mrs. Thom was still alive, the two sisters were in a state of being single and having a mentally ill child, covering up each other, living day in a dilapidated, dilapidated house. Mrs. Tho said that during those difficult days, although she struggled to earn vegetables and rice cows to raise her grandchild and sister, the house always had a warm smile...
Mrs. Thom passed away, Mrs. Tho's health was getting worse, and she had to deal with the burden of raising her grandchild every day. On days when she was not sick, Mrs. Tho worked for hire around the village, earning tens of thousands of VND per day. With no job, she went around the village to pick up crushed copper and sell it to raise her grandchild. Due to poor health, on working days, sometimes her total monthly income is less than 500,000 VND. With the additional allowance of 700,000 VND/month for Quang's orphans and grandchildren, the two of them rely on each other to live in deprivation.

"Many times I sit alone, I feel very hurt, but when I think of Quang, I tell myself to try. Every morning I wake up early to prepare rice for my child to go to school, my body is in pain, my limbs are tired, but what I care about most is whether tomorrow I will be strong enough to raise him to adulthood so that he will have a place to rely on and become a good person. I am suffering from many diseases of bones and joints, stomach, frontal coronary artery... The disease makes me often tired, my eyes and eyes are blue, and I occasionally hold a broom and shake my hands. At nearly 50 years old, combined with many years of hard work, her strength gradually exhausted, thinking about Quang, I could not hold back my tears, her life was in many disadvantages...", Mrs. Tho said with tears.

According to Mrs. Tho, since Mrs. Thom passed away, she has been increasingly lonely because both parents have passed away, and relatives are not well off to share the difficulties...
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Van Thu - Head of Hamlet 3, Van Giap Village, Thuong Tin Commune - said that Mrs. Tho's family situation in Van Giap Village is well understood.
"We always try to care for and support within our capacity. But honestly, that support only partly helps Mrs. Tho overcome the immediate situation, and also helps her and Quang reduce difficulties in the long journey ahead, which really needs the cooperation of the community," said Mr. Thu.
