Overcoming difficulties to teach and learn
Phu Hoi Primary School (Nhon Hoi commune, An Giang province) is located in a border commune with many difficulties. The school organizes teaching at 2 school sites, separated by a river, so management, travel and teaching organization face many obstacles.
In the 2025–2026 school year, the school has 19 classes with 482 students, 31 officials, teachers, and staff; including 25 teachers directly teaching.
Mr. Duong Minh Kha, the school principal, worried that the biggest difficulty currently is facilities. The school is lacking 4 classrooms. The classroom block that needs to be replaced was built in 2000 with flood-overcoming scale. In 2025, a tornado blew off the roof of a classroom, in addition, due to its long history, it was subsided, tilted, and large cracks that could not be used. The school has requisitioned the administrative area to temporarily arrange for students to study. In addition, there is a lack of standard restrooms, parking garages and computer equipment.

Teacher Duong Minh Kha said that although there are still many difficulties, the school always strives to improve the quality of education. The rate of students completing the program is high, including many students achieving Good completion and Excellent completion levels.
Every year, teachers and students win prizes in movements and competitions organized by the sector. In addition, students of the school have good academic awareness, are diligent and have a spirit of overcoming difficulties that is very commendable. Many students have to go to school far away, across rivers but are still very diligent. The number of students who have not completed their studies decreases annually, averaging about 0.5 to 1%.
Hoping to be supported in building new damaged classrooms
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, Chairwoman of Nhon Hoi Commune People's Committee, said: Nhon Hoi is a border commune belonging to ethnic minority areas, a particularly difficult commune (region III). Over the past time, with the attention and leadership of all levels and sectors, the socio-economic situation of the commune has gradually developed. However, the school facilities in the area still face many difficulties and have not met the increasing learning needs of students.
In which, Phu Hoi Primary School B is a school located in a border area that is still facing many difficulties, about 10 km from the commune center, with facilities that do not meet the needs of teaching and learning.
Phu Hoi Primary School (facility 2) still lacks classroom area according to regulations and many rooms have been damaged and need to be newly built and renovated. 4 classrooms have seriously deteriorated due to the impact of rain, floods, and tornadoes over many years, so the current condition of these 4 classrooms has subsided, cracked walls, blown roofs... causing unsafety for teachers and students. These 4 classrooms cannot continue teaching and learning.
From the above situation, Nhon Hoi Commune People's Committee has sent an official letter to the Tam Long Vang Charity Social Fund proposing to support the construction cost of 4 damaged classrooms with a proposed amount of about 1.68 billion VND, and other costs that the locality mobilized to match.
Construction scale of 4 classrooms with a total construction area of 192m2 (48m2/classroom). Grade IV building, classroom height 3.6m; M75 brick walls 100 thick; square wave-toothed roof 4.2m thick; doors and windows in aluminum system 500; foundation elevation higher than the natural ground H= 600; fan lighting system; ceramic tiles 600x600 should be laid.

Summer is coming, students temporarily leave the school roof and notebooks. But soon when entering the new school year, teachers and students are still concerned about the lack of classrooms and equipment. Although knowing that the school collective will find solutions to overcome difficulties such as temporarily studying in administrative rooms, 3-4 students sharing 1 computer, but in the long term this will greatly affect the quality of learning.
Faced with the difficulties of teachers and students of the An Giang border school, the Golden Heart Charity Fund earnestly calls on agencies, units, businesses and philanthropists to join hands to contribute funds to build 4 new classrooms, contributing to bringing safe and spacious learning conditions to students.
