Many items are missing
In a small rented room on Luong Dinh Cua Street, in Tay Nha Trang Ward (Khanh Hoa Province), the mud on the walls is reminiscent of the recent flood. Mr. Le Phuong Dai, a union member of Nha Trang Seafoods F17 Hot Mineral Tourism Joint Stock Company, was still shocked when his family's assets were washed away.
After the flood, the motorbike - the only means of transportation to work with TVs, refrigerators, washing machines... were all damaged by floodwaters. After four years of renting a room, saving a little to raise two children in grade 10 and grade 4, the valuable items they have just purchased are now gone.
To promptly share the difficulties, the Golden Heart Social Support Fund has supported his family with 5 million VND. After receiving the support, Mr. Dai was moved and choked up.
"Saving our lives in the recent flood was the luckiest thing. Today's great support is a plus luck, giving me hope to rise up," said Mr. Dai.
Spreading the spirit of mutual love
In Tay Nha Trang ward, more than 19,000 households were affected by flooding. At least 17 houses were completely or partially collapsed, and 192 others were damaged and needed to be repaired.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Danh - Vice Chairman of Tay Nha Trang Ward People's Committee said that many workers renting a room suffered heavy losses, mainly property and valuable items. Although the ward has promptly provided food and necessities and helped people overcome the consequences, to help tenants soon stabilize their lives, it is necessary to have the cooperation of benefactors.
Joining hands with the locality, the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund has supported 50 million VND to take care of union members and workers renting a room who suffered heavy losses. Immediately after receiving the support, the ward leaders and representatives of the Golden Heart Social Support Fund and the ward Trade Union handed over 20 support packages, each worth 2 million VND, to the most difficult cases. Most of these are workers renting a room, and their assets are little swept away or damaged after the flood.
Receiving the support of 2 million VND, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan, who is renting a room on 23/10 Street, shared: "This amount of money means a lot to me at this time. The place where I work in Supermarket Go is also heavily flooded, and there are no more rented rooms. For the past few days, I have only tried to go to work, hoping to have some income to make the room less empty".
During the days of busy overcoming the consequences, the gifts, although not large, "right for the right person - right at the right time" from the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund and benefactors have provided more support for workers to overcome difficulties, while spreading the spirit of mutual love in the community after natural disasters.
