The Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) in coordination with Nova Sports organizes two ATP Challenger 50 Phan Thiet tournaments, taking place continuously for two weeks from September 6th to 13th and September 13th to 20th at NovaWorld Phan Thiet, Lam Dong.
These are the 3rd and 4th ATP Challenger 50 tournaments held in Vietnam in 2026, within the framework of the Sports Festival 2026 series, continuing to make Phan Thiet a destination for international professional tennis tournaments.
The two weeks of competition brought together more than 100 professional tennis players from many countries and territories, with a total prize money value of 63,000 USD per week, equivalent to about 1.66 billion VND. The total prize money of the two weeks of competition amounted to 126,000 USD, equivalent to about 3.31 billion VND.
The competition list in Phan Thiet has the participation of many notable international players. Notable are Moïse Kouame (France) - No. 1 seed of the tournament and player in the Top 200 ATP group; Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez (Mexico) - No. 2 seed; and Ilia Simakin - No. 3 seed.
One of the names that received a lot of attention is Cruz Hewitt (Australia) – son of Australian tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt, former world No. 1 and 2 Grand Slam champions. The 18-year-old young player is gradually asserting himself in the professional competition system and is currently ranked 354th ATP.
In addition, Maximus Jones and Kasidit Samrej, two top players of Thailand, also participated in Phan Thiet. Among them, Maximus Jones - a player born in 2004 is ranked 489th ATP, and is also the defending SEA Games 33 champion in men's singles and men's doubles.
In particular, the tournament continues to open up opportunities for Vietnamese players to directly compete and rub against international professional opponents right at home. Through wild card slots, many Vietnamese players have the opportunity to participate in the tournament, including Hoang Thanh Trung - a veteran player of Vietnamese tennis; along with faces Nguyen Minh Phat (AP Sports), Truong Thanh Minh (AP Sports), Tran Quoc Cuong (AP Sports), Nguyen Minh Thien (Becamex - HCMC) and Nguyen Nam (HCMC).
Playing with players who are regularly active on the ATP system is not only meaningful in terms of achievements. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to accumulate international competition experience, improve their bravery, approach the speed and professional level of professional tennis, and at the same time aim to accumulate points on the ATP rankings.
