The latest typhoon and low pressure bulletin on the afternoon of May 21st from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that a low pressure has appeared in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but the possibility of developing into a typhoon in the next 24 hours is low.
At 8 am on May 21, low pressure 05d was about 890km east of southeastern Mindanao Island. By 2 pm on the same day, low pressure 05d was determined to be about 925km east of southeastern Mindanao.
The appearance of low pressure area 05d is consistent with PAGASA's previous forecast about the possibility of a low pressure area forming in the week from May 18-24.
PAGASA also forecasts 3 low pressure areas that may form in the Pacific Ocean in the period from May 25 to 31.
According to the Philippine weather agency, the possibility of these 3 low pressures strengthening into storms is still low.
According to PAGASA, 1 of the 3 low pressure areas may enter PAR and approach the East Luzon area in the last week of May. Two remaining potential low pressure areas may also form in the east of the Philippines during the same period.
