On July 13, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and leader of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) Tom Homan said that the Trump administration will appeal the federal judge's ruling on July 11 regarding the detention of illegal immigrants.
Accordingly, the court opposed authorities from detaining immigrants based only on race factors as well as revoked the right to access lawyers of those detained.
In the raid that led to the July 10 protest at two marijuana farms in Southern California, 319 illegal immigrants were detained, and authorities also found 14 minors.
According to United Farm Workers, the raid injured many workers, including one who died from injury.
President Donald Trump has vowed to deport millions of illegal immigrants and conduct workplace raids, including farms, which were largely exempted from handling during his first term.
