According to CGTN, China has opened the world's tallest swing on the edge of a cliff over 700 meters high. Scenes on the opening day show tourists who love the thrilling experience screaming with delight as they take a breeze in the air with a maximum speed of nearly 130 km/h.
The swing is designed with a 100 meter high bow frame, the height of a 30-storey building and is located in Longgang National Geopark, Trung Khanh.
Known as the "king of all swings", the project attracted a lot of attention from tourists looking towards Chongqing and was certified by Guinness World Record as the world's tallest swings - 12 meters higher than the record established in 2011 by B!G rush swings in South Africa.
With a maximum of 3 people playing once, visitors who want to experience the feeling of strength will be lifted into the air with a cable attached to the bow tower before launching at high speed. Instead of being guaranteed safety with seats, visitors will be tied together in a horizontal direction by a belt.
Shi Xuebin, the project's chief engineer, said the swing could reach a maximum angle of 90 degrees from the ground or about 70 meters from the cliff. The swing has undergone a safety inspection for 4 months to ensure it can withstand 10 degrees earthquake and strong winds with speeds of up to 165 km/h.
" Tourists will wear protective gear certified by the European Union. To increase the level of protection, we have added a safety belt on the outside of the suit," said Mr. Shi.
Previously, the giant swing was completed at the end of 2019 and was expected to open to visitors at the beginning of this year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the opening ceremony to be delayed.
